CDS is thrilled to announce the launch of a groundbreaking new course, SCDS1001 Artificial Intelligence Literacy I, designed to empower all HKU undergraduate students with essential AI knowledge and skills.

 

In today’s fast-evolving, tech-driven world, understanding AI is no longer optional —it’s vital. This 3-credit elective course will open the door to the fascinating world of AI, equipping you to navigate and engage with AI technologies confidently and responsibly. 

 

Join us for engaging weekly lectures every Wednesday from 11:30 AM to 12:20 PM in Semester 2, complemented by four hands-on small group tutorial sessions to deepen understanding through practical learning. 

 

Explore key AI concepts, the evolution of intelligence, and the transformative impact of AI on society through interactive lectures, tutorials, and a practical project. From the rise of large language models to the future of AI and its ethical challenges, this course will provide you with the tools to evaluate and utilise AI effectively in your daily life.

Course Description

Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy is essential for navigating our modern society effectively and responsibly. This course provides students with the skills and knowledge needed to understand AI concepts, interact with AI systems, and critically evaluate their impact. Through lectures, online learning activities, and a practical project, students will explore the ethical, social, and technological dimensions of AI, preparing them to make informed decisions in a world that is increasingly AI-driven.
