HINCare, a cloud-based platform under the Social Technology and Research Laboratory (STAR Lab) at HKU, has been honoured with the prestigious Social Capital Builder Logo Award at the 2024 Social Capital Builder Awards.
Developed by Professor Reynold C.K. CHENG, Division Head of Computer Science at CDS, HINCare is a cloud-based platform that uses AI technologies to support volunteering among multiple NGOs and charity organisations. Through a built-in heterogeneous information network (HIN), the platform suggests and matches potential helpers from social networks, and recommends them to the elderly care organisations involved.
The 2024 Social Capital Builder Awards was organised by the Community Investment and Inclusion Fund (CIIF) under the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau of the HKSAR Government. The CIIF promotes the development of social capital in the community through a variety of social capital development programmes. Since 2012, the Awards aims to commend individuals, corporations and organisations for their contributions to the development of social capital in Hong Kong, as well as to publicise their achievements in collaboration and social capital building.
The research team of HINCare was delighted to receive the award, and they appreciated the continuous support from the CIIF as well as their collaborators. Looking ahead, the team will continue their efforts to leverage technology for contribution to the community.
